Painting the landscape means capturing its essence using oil and acrylics along with mixed mediums. working with multi-layers surfaces creating a landscape using texture and colour, the work evolves during the many processes.

The method I use for both oil and acrylic mediums are similar, approaching the work with an instinctive objective allowing for the work to reveal its narrative. The paint is worked in stages allowing layers of colour to come though creating rich textures thus forming an element of ambiguity. I am in the belief that a work of art can invoke a sense of serenity and has the ability to stir strong emotions within our psyche similarly with nature with all its beauty and unpredictability.

During our lifetime we experience many changes, some changes planned and others unexpected, some we embrace but a great deal of our life's events alter our life immensely. The many layers and textures represent a visual aspect of our journey through life with all that it holds. The subject is only a starting point for my work and the overall image may change with the different elements within the layers of paint. My objective is to convey the essence of nature and to explore the notion of an abstract expression of time with all its complexities.

Biography

Throughout my life I have had a great interest in the arts taking evening classes in various mediums and later in life I had the opportunity to study fine art full time attending London Guildhall University where I gained an MA in fine art, majoring in painting. I have recently moved from London to Norfolk where I am appreciating the calmness of the county along with its diverse natural habitat and inspirational landscapes.
